There’s nothing more gratifying than watching the excitement, joy, and pride glowing from 12 and 13 year olds during their first day of climbing. From the initial climb of apprehension and fear, to the final hour when everyone is fighting to get on the hardest climb. The group is shouting words of encouragement, learning to trust one another belaying, and smiling ear to ear after each climb.
We spend so much time getting after it. Planning our next epic adventure, or hoping to get on a technical peak but sometimes forget the purity of the basics. Days like these remind me of why I started guiding. Can’t wait for another amazing summer here at Crested Butte Mountain Guides.
