*You must be at least 16 years old to register for this course*
Staying at a ski hut is a wonderful experience in and of itself. Combine this opportunity with a hands-on AIARE Level 1 course and you’ll recieve an awesome introduction backcountry travel and skiing!
Participants will need to bring an extra set of clothes to wear at the hut, a lightweight sleeping bag, and lunch for both days. Breakfast and dinner will be provided by CBMG during the days you are at the hut. Be prepared for a wide range of weather as elements in the rockies can change dramatically with little notice. We will send you a detailed equipment list once you have registered for the course.
*Avalanche rescue gear is available for rent for an additional fee. Please inquire with the CBMG office for prices.
**Participants will need either alpine touring (AT), telemark, or split board equipment with skins; nordic skis (waxable or fish scales). Snowshoes are NOT an option for this particular hut trip.
Cost Includes: AIARE Certified Level 1 Course Leader; AIARE Level 1 Avalanche Course Manual; AIARE Field Book, and AIARE Level 1 certificate upon successful completion of the course; 2 breakfasts & 2 dinners while at hut.
Not Included: Lunch & snacks, avalanche rescue gear*, backcountry travel system**
Student to Instructor Ratio: 6 to 1, with a maximum of 6 students per course.
Prerequisites: Participants should possess previous winter backcountry travel experience and be intermediate level backcountry skiers or riders. Snowshoes and Cross-Country skis are NOT appropriate for this course.
